Exam Overview
Instructional design, classroom management, formative assessment, and learning evidence.
Match the certification pathway, grade band, and subject area to your state education agency. General pedagogy practice does not imply that every applicant must take the same assessment or that completing a quiz satisfies a certification requirement.
Use Michigan government and agency directory to locate the relevant state agency. For a municipal trade credential, verify the city or county where the work will occur.

Worked examples
Practice walkthrough
During group work, a few students repeatedly interrupt one another. The class has not been taught a discussion routine. Which response most directly teaches the missing skill?
Answer: Model turn-taking, rehearse it briefly, and give feedback during the next discussion.
A routine is more actionable when students see it modeled and have a chance to practice. Feedback connects the expectation to actual behavior. Punishment or a posted list alone does not teach the specific discussion process that is missing.

Practice walkthrough
An assessment is intended to measure understanding of a science concept. A student can explain the concept orally but has difficulty handwriting. Which adjustment best preserves the intended construct?
Answer: Allow an oral response scored with the same science criteria.
If handwriting is not the target, an oral response can remove that barrier while preserving the science evidence and scoring criteria. No response gives no evidence, and changing the science standard changes the construct instead of the response format.

How many practice variants are available?
There are 20 variants, each with 25 questions and explanations. The variants have different sets; some questions recur between variants in new exam banks.
Can I use the practice score as an official result?
